Tennis Tips
There are two
different sorts of synthetic strings - monofilament and multifilament.
Recommend
multifilament as they are said to be better.
Your first service
should go in at least 70% of the time.
Hit harder when
the wind is against you. Use spin to keep the ball in court when the wind is behind you.
Always try to
place the overhead shot.
If you begin your
backswing early you meet the ball rather than the ball meet you.
Spin
There are three
types of spin:
-
Topspin
-
Sidespin
-
Underspin
Forehand Grips

Mind Abilities
Try to cultivate your:
-
Motivation
-
Self-belief
-
Concentration
This is just as important as your physical
skills.
Service Slice
Keep your head steady and concentrate on the
ball.
Be aware of your tennis
racquet slicing across the right side of the ball at three o' clock.
Holding the Ball
Hold one ball - grip with thumb and four fingers of your no
playing hand.
Hold two balls - grip the first ball with thumb and first two
fingers. Second ball with the third and fourth fingers.
Tennis Balls
Pick the best tennis balls.
Tennis Smash
You need to have quickness and sharpness to go backwards in a
sideways on position, and have powerful legs for jumping high in the air.
Sweatbands
Are useful if you sweat a lot whilst playing tennis. They can be
put on one or both wrists. These are small cotton type elastic head bands, to keep
perspiration off the hands and tennis racket.
Tennis Balls
Don't forget to change your tennis balls when they have lost
their spring and speed. If not, this will affect your game.
Equipment
One important rule to remember is not to purchase inexpensive
tennis equipment. If you do, you will most probably find they will have to be changed sooner rather than
later.
The main piece of tennis equipment is the racquet and these
come in many styles and sizes.
Check with the leading brand names before selecting a racquet
for yourself. Most will have trained staff on hand to assist you with your choice.
